Birgit Deharde was born in Bremen and received her ballet education at the Ballet School Hamburg Ballett John Neumeier. 1994 she started studying choreology at the Institute of Choreology in London. 3 years later she got a contract with the Stuttgart Ballet where she worked as Choreologist and Choreographic Assistant for 12 years.

In 2006 Birgit Deharde received her Diploma as Ballet Pedagogue.

Between 2009 and 2019 Birgit Deharde was working worldwide as freelance choreologist and was educated as Yoga teacher in India and Bali.

As guest choreologist she was working together with the Turkish State Ballet, Hungarian National Ballet, Royal Danish Ballet, Ballet Du Capitole de Toulouse, Balletto del Teatro alla Scala, Norwegian National Ballet, Finnish National Ballet, Latvian National Ballet, Staatsballett Berlin, Royal Swedish Ballet, Korean National Ballet, Ballett des Staatstheaters Augsburg, Ballett des Staatstheaters Nürnberg, Ballet Zurich, Bavarian State Ballet, Stanislawski Ballet Moscow, Ballet de Santiago de Chile, West Australian Ballet, Czech National Ballet and Les Grands Ballets Canadiens.

When rehearsing John Cranko’s ballets Romeo and Juliet, The Taming of the Shrew, Onegin and Swan Lake with companies Birgit Deharde worked together with legends like Marcia Haydée, Egon Madsen and Richard Cragun.

Besides the Cranko repertoire she also coached works by Maximiliano Guerra, Christian Spuck, Liam Scarlett, Michael Corder, Cynthia Harvey and Marcia Haydée.

In 2019 Artistic Director Tamas Detrich engaged Birgit Deharde again to work with the Stuttgart Ballet.
