Pia Christine Boekhorst grew up in Cologne, where she completed her a-levels before participating in journalism internships for both radio and newspaper. She studied at Leuphana University Lüneburg, earning a Bachelor of Arts in 2014 with a thesis on dance and intermediality that focused on John Neumeier's ballet The Little Mermaid. In 2017, she completed a Master of Arts in dance studies at the Cologne University of Music and Dance (HFMT) with the thesis “Social Dance in the Weimar Republic and under National Socialism.”
A ten-month internship in the communications department of the Hamburg Ballet under John Neumeier in the 2012/13 season paved the way for her future career. Subsequently, a three-month internship in the dramaturgy department of Ballett am Rhein under Martin Schläpfer in 2016/17 had great impact. She gained further experience in the field of dance at the festival tanz nrw and the international dance fair nrw, among others. Pia Christine Boekhorst has been responsible for publications at the Stuttgart Ballet since March 2017.
In addition to her work for the Stuttgart Ballet, Pia Christine Boekhorst teaches Pilates, yoga, and creative dance for children.
