Rolando D’Alesio who was born and raised in Rome received his ballet training first in his hometown, then in London and finally at the John Cranko School in Stuttgart.

At the beginning of the season 1991/92 Rolando D’Alesio became a member of the Stuttgart Ballet. He first danced in the Corps de ballet, in 2000 he was promoted to Demi Soloist. His repertoire of leading roles included Lenski in Onegin, Mercutio and Benvolio in Romeo and Juliet, Gremio in The Taming of the Shrew (all: John Cranko), as well as the Blue Bird in Márcia Haydée’s The Sleeping Beauty and Monsieur Duval in John Neumeier’s The Lady of the Camellias. He also danced solo roles in choreographies by George Balanchine, Maurice Béjart, Jiří Kylián, Uwe Scholz, Jérome Robbins, Glen Tetley, Hans van Manen and William Forsythe. Several choreographers created roles especially for Rolando D’Alesio such as Uwe Scholz, Stephan Thoss, Mauro Bigonzetti and Christian Spuck.

Rolando D’Alesio also created own choreographies for the „Young Choreographers“ of the Noverre-Society: Lachryma Antiqua (2000), Come neve al sole (2001) and Blanket of Clouds (2003).
Since 2003 he is working as Ballet Master with the Stuttgart Ballet and he is responsible for the choreographic assistance as well as the production of works by Marco Goecke and Christian Spuck. Numerous renowned companies invited him to work with them as a guest teacher such as the NDT, the Alterballetto, the Ballet of the State Opera Hannover, the Donlon Dance Company or the Ballet of the National Theater Mannheim. Since the 17-18 season he is a Principal Ballet Master with the Stuttgart Ballet.

Rolando D’Alesio is still dancing in performances with the Stuttgart Ballet in roles such as Monsieur Duval in The Lady of the Camellias (John Neumeier) or Earl Capulet in Romeo and Juliet (John Cranko).
